Mid-South Bike Fest kicked-off with a Beale Street Bang

Mid-South Bike Fest kicked-off with a Beale Street Bang this evening as legendary DJ Reginald "Hollywood Stain" Thompson selected the beats and provided the heat for this celebration of unity and anticipation. G and his amazing team including Second to None and Lady Bug dished out a delicious spread of southern comfort food featuring BBQ Martinis, spicy hot wings, homemade pasta salad, a variety of sweets and much more, while our 163 Beale Street host, A Schwab kept the libations following. Clark "Preacha" Chambers and Tom "Hoss" Lewis presented to the delighted crowd, their insights and plans for the upcoming Bike Fest. Hoss also gave his rendition of Fest Headliner WAR. As the music began to fade with War singing "I've been around for a long, long time ..., Hoss continued "the good Lord changed my water to wine." (Keep your day-job Hoss). But the crown jewels and drinks of the evening were the live performances of tender-sweet-angelic Little J Blackfoot and soul-touching, emotion-stirring, surprise A-Capella appearance of Mid-South Bike Fest Headliner Lil Rounds - she simply took our breath away (and our hearts). It was an evening to remember as it set a promising tone for Fantastic Fest things to come! And as Preacha closed the evening with a prayer, we could not help but think of those young people in our City that tonight were just trying to survive. Our Fest with a Quest is so important to Memphis.
